An experiment conducted at Department of Nematology, O.U.A.T, Bhubaneswar during 2008 to 2010 showed that the biochemical differences of 2 varieties Jaipur long and Abhaya were used as the resistant and susceptible check against Meloidogyne incognita. Among various amino acids, 10 amino acids viz. L-cystine, L-arginine, L-serine, L-glutamic acid, L-alanine, L-glycine, L-aspergine, L-tyrosine L-tryptophan and L-leucine were found to be common in both the varieties. Quantitative increase in various amino acids and amides were observed in the infected plant of both the varieties except L-tryptophan, L-phenylalanine, L-tyrosine, L-arginine, L-histidine and L-methionine by paper chromatographic and TLC scanning technique.
